Airstream Adventures

How it all started...

It's springtime in 2021 and I am feeling defeated. I really wanted our Airstream to work out. I really, really did. However sometimes life gently nudges you in a different direction. It was a 1977 Airstream Sovereign International that we bought way back in 2009. We had already done a lot to restore it, but it still needed work... major work. And we simply didn't have the time or resources to handle it. In addition to the much needed repairs, it was becoming increasing apparent that the layout simply wasn't working. The kids were getting too big to share the pull out couch. And if they slept in, I couldn't comfortable relax in the front. And the bathroom was cramped.

I saw an ad online

Even though I was frustrated, I wasn't really actively looking for another Airstream. But you know how it goes... you find yourself looking around just to see what's out there. I came across an ad for a 1986 Sovereign. It had a dinette up front that would convert to a sleeping area if needed, in the middle were bunkbeds and a pull out couch, and rear bath with a tub. And, most importantly, had been fully renovated. All of the things about my current Airstream that weren't done were already done on this one. It was even my favorite colors!

I showed the ad to my other half and he said we could go look at it.

This was it

While walking around this new Airstream, we both decided this was the solution to our problems. It was done. No laundry list of problems to fix. Just hook it up and go. So, that's exactly what we did.

Even though I had joined Airstream Club International years ago and had our Big Red Numbers, I had never stuck them to our Airstream. But you know what? That was one of the first things I did. Introducing Airstream 7078.
